AIDAN FINE

“My mother used to plead with me to “land the plane!” when I kept rambling on about elaborate stories. The problem was, I’ve always loved being a storyteller, and always thought there was more to say. I vividly remember turning a 2 page writing assignment at school into over 20 pages just because I felt like I couldn’t stop.

Matching this love with music was a decades-long process. I bounced between piano, drums, guitar, and DJing but ultimately lost interest in all of them, the sounds never quite matching what I heard inside my head.

At least, not until I fell in love with production. Suddenly I didn’t need to twist my fingers in weird ways to make things sound the way I wanted. I could design the sounds all myself, set my own parameters, and only follow the rules if I wanted to.

This combination of my love of stories and music has taken me to Rhythm & Vines, touring with Church & AP, inside the Top 40 charts on NZ Radio, and above 1 million streams on Spotify.

And after all these years, I’m still trying to figure out what the inside of my head sounds like.”
